Preload and postload table housekeeping

iLoader allows you to run processes prior to loading, and after data has been loaded.

This topic describes pre and post load processes in the context of using the Preload and Postload script files. However, it is recommended that you specify the pre and post load processes in the Data Transformation script file. The Data Transformation script file has full iLoader functionality and allows you to set up and maintain all your processes in one place.

The Preload script is the first file run by the Control File and any commands of the following functions can be run before the data is loaded:

• Lock Engine while the script is run
• Take a backup of the database
• Build indexed or unindexed keys
• Execute batch programs
• Drop tables

The Postload script is the last file to be run by the Control File and can perform the following general housekeeping functions on the database after it has been built:

• Produces a data audit file
• Allows you to execute batch files
